Clashes intensify in Islamabad as Supreme Court Hears Fresh Petition on 35A

The spontaneous clashes in Islamabad have spread as the township is observing a complete shutdown, this after news spread that the Supreme court will hear a fresh petition against Article 35a today.

Scores of youth including college going students hit the streets shouting pro freedom and Anti India slogans and targetted the vehicles of Police with stones.

The Police in retaliation fired aerial shots and tear smoke shells to disperse the protesters, however to no real effect, as the clashes were going on when this report was filed.

Pertinently a BJP spokesman Ashwini Upadhyay has filed a petition to demand the scrapping of Article 35a and the matter will be heard by apex court of India today.

Another petition challenging the special law was heard on August 6, when Joint Resistance leaders called for a shutdown and protested to demand the safeguarding of Article 35A.
