The Central Board of School Education (CBSE) in India has said that exams scheduled from July 1 to July 15 stand cancelled, amid the ongoing global pandemic.
The board said that it will conduct exams when the condition allows/ is conducive.
The Supreme Court earlier asked the CBSE if it will give students the option to appear for the exams later or will declare result on the basis of internal assessment Marks.
The Board said that Class 12 students will be given a choice to opt out of exam. “Students who choose not to appear for remaining papers will be assessed on the basis of last 3 exams,” the board said.
Those students who opt to appear for the exam will have to wait for the examinations to happen till the situation is conducive, but the results shall be declared by Mid August.
The parents who filed a plea seeking postponement of exams had said that the students could be exposed to COVID-19 infection if they appear for exams amid rising number of coronavirus cases in India.
Meanwhile The ICSE board also cancelled the pending class 10th and 12th exams for now.
