President of the All JK Shia Association, Molvi Imran Reza Ansari, has written to Jammu Kashmir Police to file a case against a Facebook page for  derogatory remarks made against the Shia community.

In an official complaint filed with the Station Officer of Zadibal, Mr. Ansari addressed the dissemination of hateful rhetoric that has caused distress within the Shia community and has the potential to incite tensions within society.

The complaint highlights a live video uploaded on Facebook by Mudasir Aziz, wherein a woman made offensive and demeaning comments referring to the Shia community as “Rafizi.”

The woman in this video is furthering holding her husband in disregard for living in a Shia locality and starting further that there was only one Sunni household in the locality, rest it was full of Shias.

“Such language not only violates the fundamental rights of individuals to practice their beliefs in peace but also contributes to the marginalization and victimization of the Shia community,” Imran Ansari said in his complaint.

In his letter to the Station Officer of Zadibal, Mr. Ansari urged swift and decisive action against those involved in propagating hate speech.

He emphasized the importance of holding journalists and individuals accountable for their words and actions, especially when they contribute to the marginalization of any community.

In another video, the Facebook page owner and the same woman has issued an apology asking for “forgiveness”, if they have hurt the sentiments of any community.

“We have not willingly hurt anyone’s sentiments. We are sorry, if we have done so,” they are heard saying a fresh video.
