‘Conduct Online Exams’- JK Students Movement Lambasts KU Law Department

The Jammu Kashmir students Movement has condemned Kashmir University’s Law Department move to to resume classes for intermediate semesters.

In a press release issued to The Kashmiriyat, JKSM has said that the university has asked students to wait for their exams till university resumes its classwork physically.

In a latest notification released yesterday students were informed that their exams will be only held when the COVID-19 pandemic is over and when university will resume normally.

“The students presently in BALLB 2nd, 4th, 6th & 7th and LLB 2nd & 3rd are hereby provisionally promoted to the next semesters respectively. However, these students will have to appear in the examination (offline) of the previous semester once the COVID-19 pandemic is over and the university physically reopens and starts to operate normally,” reads an official notification of Law Department.

This is unjust & unfair treatment of Department towards students, JKSM has said.

When the other departments have conducted the online exams for intermediate semesters why only law department has issues with it. How can students be able to prepare for two semesters at a time when university resumes, Questioned J&KSM

The spokesperson of the Movement in an official communique issued to The Kashmiriyat has said “Students have already spent more time in semesters than allowed, now instead of saving their time, the department is further extending time to delay their already delayed degrees.”

On one hand all other departments of University successfully conducted their intermediate semester exams in online mode and here is our department which is still unable to take students in confidence.

Are those guide lines only applicable for our department. An aggreived student wrote in Law students group? JKSM asked.

The Class Representatives (CRs) of the department were not taken in consideration. “Everytime when exams were about to start or any decision regarding exams was to be taken in department, CRs were the important stakeholders, but we are shocked when we received this notification. We are representing our class but we don’t have any clue about this,” CRs of law department told J&KSM

J&K Students Movement (J&KSM) demands early exams for the intermediate semesters of BALLB 2nd,4th, 6th & 7th and LLB 2nd & 3rd such that their precious time could be saved and their degrees will get completed on time.

Moreover the backlog students will get a chance to sit in exams & clear their degrees on time.
