Congress to submit letter of support to NC for government formation today: Karra

Jammu Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) chief Tariq Hameed Karra on Friday said that the party will give a letter of support to the National Conference (NC) by this evening to form the government Jammu Kashmir, Kashmir News Observer reported.

Karra mentioned that they have scheduled a legislature party meeting today at 3 pm to pass a resolution.

“The resolution will then be sent to the party high command in New Delhi. We have six members, and the party high command will decide who will get what in the coalition government with the National Conference,” he said.

He added that currently, they have no demands and will put them forth after forming the government.

“We will give a letter of support to NC by today in the evening after the conclusion of our legislature party meeting,” he said.

Earlier, National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah, who was chosen as the legislature party head by the newly elected assembly members of the party, said that they were waiting for the letter of support from the Congress, following which they would meet Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to stake a claim for government formation.

The National Conference and Congress had entered into a pre-poll alliance to contest the assembly election in Jammu Kashmir.

NC won 42 seats, Congress won six seats, while four independent candidates who won the election extended their support to the National Conference.
