The Locals of the Shutkari area and the adjoining areas in the Ganderbal district of Central Kashmir are in distress over the construction of a tunnel from Gangneer to Sonmarg in this Central Kashmir district

Speaking to The Kashmiriyat the locals said that the entire populace is fearful in Shutkari village as the huge density dynamites have created cracks inside their houses. “Many have even lost their houses in the massive explosions used to create the tunnel.”

They alleged that the construction agency is using high-density explosives to ease their work, without even considering that the same is making the locals of the nearby areas suffer drastically.

The affected families are living in the temporary tin sheds.

The Locals said that they have approached every official seeking compensation for the losses they have been facing since 2017 but nobody has heard them so far.

The inhabitants appealed the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene in the matter.
