A court in Pulwama on Monday extended the police remand of Kashmiri journalist, Fahad Shah- who was arrested on 04 February 2022 by Police after being summoned to a Police station in Pulwama.
Fahad Shah- Editor-in-Chief of The Kashmir Walla was produced in a court by Pulwama Police on Monday where the judge remanded him to police custody for seven more days.
The defence lawyer has applied for the grounds of detention and the court initially had asked police to provide the same in two days, however, as of now, the grounds of detention have not been produced in the court. “The court has granted one more week to Police to submit the grounds of detention,” sources told The Kashmiriyat.
Fahad was summoned by Pulwama police in January for alleged ‘incorrect reporting’ about an encounter in Naira Pulwama district on January 30 in which four militants of Jaish-e-Mohammad including a top commander Zahid Wani and a Pakistani militant were killed.
The family on one of the slain had alleged that their son, Inayat Ahmed was innocent.
The case filed in Pulwama against Fahad Shah under the FIR number 19/2022 under sections 505, 124 A, 13 of UA(P)A accused Fahad of “provoking the public to disturb law and order” through his posts on social media.
Post his arrest, the Jammu Kashmir Police said that Fahad was “wanted” in three cases.
