The High Court of Jammu Kashmir issued an order on Saturday for the immediate release of two individuals by overturning their detention under the Public Safety Act (PSA).
Justice Sindhu Sharma, presiding over a bench, revoked the detention order for Mohammad Hanief Guroo from Rabitar, Gundi Roshan Ganderbal, and granted his habeas corpus petition.
Guroo had been detained based on an order from the District Magistrate of Srinagar, dated May 10, 2023.
Another bench led by Rajnesh Oswal nullified the detention order dated March 7, 2022, against Adil Afzal Lone, which had been issued by the District Magistrate of Srinagar.
Consequently, it declared that the detention order was unsustainable on these grounds.
The court also directed the authorities to release the duo immediately, provided they were not required in any other case.
