Day 4- Shutdown Continues in Quimoh Demanding the Removal of Army Camp

Shutdown and protests continued in Quimoh belt of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district for the fourth consecutive day as locals continued to demand the removal of recently established Army camp in Redwani area of the District.

Locals told The Kashmiriyat that shops, business establishments and educational institutes are shut in the area and scores of people have gathered in the area shouting pro Independence slogans to demand the removal of the Army camp.

They said that at least three youth were picked up during nocturnal raids by the Forces after intense stone pelting clashes on Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the area.

The Locals have been pleading the authorities for the removal of the Army camp in the area, however, the locals alleged that their pleas have went unnoticed so far.

Reiterating their demand for the removal of the Army camp, they said, “The area is growing in fear, but nobody seems to be listening.”

The Army on last Sunday set up a camp in the volatile Quimoh locality of South Kashmir’s Kulgam District.

Locals informed The Kashmiriyat. They said that 1 Rashtriya Rifles of the Indian Army has set up a new camp besides the Martyrs graveyard in the Redwani Bala locality of Quimoh in South Kashmir’s Kulgam District. Redwani Bala pertinently is a densely populated area of the Kulgam District.
