A Muslim man who was pulled off a train in Madhya Pradesh by members of the Bajrang Dal has been arrested under the anti-conversion law based on a complaint by the Hindu woman he was traveling with.
Asif Shaikh was forced off an Ajmer-bound train on January 14 and dragged to the railway police at the Ujjain station. The Hindutva activists had accused the man of ‘love jihad’.
At the time, Superintendent of Police, Ujjain GRP, Nivedita Gupta had said the two were let off after their parents were called in and their statements were recorded.
Indore police have now arrested Shaikh on charges of attempt at forceful religious conversion and extortion.

An FIR was filed based on a written complaint by the woman.
According to Mhow station in-charge Arun Solanki, the woman said that Asif was her husband’s friend and that he was using objectionable photographs of her for blackmail. She’s alleged that he was asking for money and pressuring her for conversion.– IANS
