‘Delay in Exams’: KU’s 6th semester students allege varsity of jeopardizing careers

Kashmir University, the highest hub of education in the valley has always been in the news for many reasons especially having failed to streamline the conduct of semester-wise exams of the undergraduate students enrolled in degree colleges across Kashmir.

This time again, end-semester students enrolled for various courses at different colleges affiliated with Kashmir University are aghast over the alleged delay in the conduct of terminal semester exams as the varsity is yet to take a call on it.

A delegation of aggrieved students told GNS that they had taken admission in 2018. “Our degrees were supposed to be completed in 2020 but frequent delays from the varsity have jeopardized our careers. We are already one year late,” they said.

Though the stipulated period has elapsed but students say they were yet to know about when the exams would be conducted.

“We have been approaching the varsity officials for a long time now requesting them to conduct our exams as our precious time is being wasted but it seems that it has been falling on deaf ears,” they said.

They say they are losing opportunities to apply for various government and private jobs. “This looks like they are deliberately jeopardizing our careers. We appeal to the varsity authorities to expedite the exam process so as to enable us to clear our degrees without further delay,” they said.

“The University has been showing concern with all other exams except for ours”, they added.

It may be remembered that back in August, the Examination Controller’s office citing ‘modalities involved in the exam process’ had told GNS that the date sheet will be made public within the next fifteen days, however even after nearly two months, the varsity is yet to make any official announcement regarding the conduct of highly anticipated exams.

Despite repeated attempts made by GNS, the Controller Examination could not be made available over the issue. (GNS)
