A day after the final delimitation report was released, residents of Drygam Khansahib in central Kashmir’s Budgam district held a protest against the merger of their area with Charar-e- Sharief constituency.
Protesters while talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), alleged that it is an injustice with their area to merge the area with the constituency which is far away from the village.
“We were with Khansahib constituency and that’s just four kilometres away from the area but to merge our village with Charar-e- Sharief constituency, which is 35 kilometres away from our village is unfair to us,” they said.
The protestors said that they are not able to understand why their village was split and merged with Charar-e- Sharief.
“Don’t take away our rights, we have been saying this before and we are saying the same thing today. Our area should be retained with Khansahib constituency,” they said—(KNO)
