Despite being one kilometre away from the deputy commissioner’s office in budgam, a main road in this central Kashmir district has turned into a wetland and the administration remains is unmoved.

Locals of Waterwani, Dadina, Sholipora , Doonsinaar , Labertal and their adjoining areas are facing acute difficulties due to the sorry state of this road. They alleged that the District Administration of Budgam is watching like a mute spectator.

“Day by day it creates problems for the trespassers as well as outsiders to go through this road, especially for pregnant women travelling either by foot or through transport,” a local told The Kashmiriyat, adding that, “Sometimes due to the pathetic condition of roads most of the patients get severe attacks in reaching the hospital, ” they said.

The reason for the pathetic condition of this road is the leakage of Main Water supply Pipe (Sukhnag), which is supplied to Jehlum Valley College Srinagar JVC and Secretariat.

Shujah Abass, a local told The Kashmiriyat, “the road connects dozens of villages with the district headquarters in Budgam. But the district administration of Budgam has turned a deaf ear by not looking into the matter. The condition od the road is worsening with every passing day due to the negligence of R&B department.”

The locals of the area a to appeal the district administration and the lieutenant governor to look into the matter and redress their long-pending demand as soon as possible.
