Director Panchayati Raj J-K visits Lar and Gund blocks in Ganderbal

Director Panchayati Raj J&K, Khalid Majeed (JKAS) along with Joint Director DRDK, Ms. Rifat Aftab Qureshi (JKAS) today visited Lar and Gund Blocks of Ganderbal district and participated in camps held for PWL Saturation under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G) besides taking stock of public demands and grievances regarding the scheme.

At the outset, Assistant Commissioner Development Ganderbal, Dr. Bashir Ahmad Bhat (JKAS) welcomed the visiting dignitaries and apprised them with regard to the number of eligible unsanctioned Beneficiaries which are to be sanctioned against the new targets allocated for PWL saturation. He further apprised the officers about the pace of achievement till date during last 6 days in both the Blocks.

The visiting officers deliberated in detail that PMAY-G is a Centre’s flagship housing entitlement scheme which aims to address the housing problems of poor populace. It addresses the rural housing shortage and bridges the housing deficit in rural areas of India, contributing significantly towards mission of “Housing for All”. This year about 2 lakh housing units have been targeted to be completed in the UT, which need to be sanctioned during the month of June-2023 only, the officers informed.

The officers explained that the PMAY-G special camps are being organised across the UT in order to register beneficiaries on the spot. They added that the process of registration, documentation is being done during these camps and deserving families of significant numbers are going to be benefited in a transparent manner and with more easier procedures. Both the officers expressed their satisfaction with the conduct of these camps in both the Blocks.

Director Panchayati Raj J&K specifically stressed upon the BDOs for expediting the pace of document collection/verification & registration of eligible beneficiaries figuring in the Awaas Plus Portal list within the stipulated time so that the sanctioning targets allocated are done timely before the deadline of 30-06-2023. Later he inspected the newly renovated Panchayat Ghar Gund-A & expressed his satisfaction regarding the execution of the work. He exhorted that the Panchayat Ghars need to be developed into a one-stop solution centers of all the issues of a particular Panchayat Halqa.

Among others, the camps were attended by ACD Ganderbal, Dr. Bashir Ahmad Bhat (JKAS), BDC Chairperson Lar, Block Development Officer Gund, Mr. Mohammad Arif Sheikh (JKAS), Block Development Officer Lar, Mr. Amarjit Singh besides Sarpanchs, Panchs, beneficiaries and other respectable citizens of both the Blocks.
