In response to the escalating border tensions following India’s airstrikes across the Line of Control, authorities in Jammu Kashmir have activated emergency measures across several regions.
On Tuesday, the Office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore issued an order establishing a 24×7 Control Room to ensure prompt response in case of any eventuality.
Three officers — Irfan Nabi, Mukesh Kumar, and Mohd Amin — have been assigned to coordinate real-time monitoring and public assistance.
In a separate move, the Sub Divisional Magistrate of Karnah issued an advisory requesting residents not to assemble on roads or in marketplaces and to remain indoors.
Citizens have also been advised against parking vehicles on road sides or leaving construction material on streets to ensure smooth emergency access.
“Any one found violating the instructions shall be dealt seriously,” the advisory, of which a copy is available with The Kashmiriyat, warned
Meanwhile, in Srinagar, Ganderbal and serval districts of Kashmir workers were seen painting red cross symbols on the roofs of hospitals — a preventive measure signaling medical neutrality amid the heightened military alert.
These developments come in the wake of “Operation Sindoor,” under which India carried out targeted airstrikes across the border, citing pre-emptive action against terrorist infrastructure. The government has described the operation as a “necessary and proportionate” step in the interest of national security.
As per official reports, at least 12 civilians have been killed and over 40 injured due to retaliatory shelling by Pakistan in border villages of Jammu Kashmir.
Schools along the LoC remain closed, and emergency services are on high alert.
