The Dooru and Sangdan areas in South Kashmir’s Islamabad (anantnag) district are observing a complete shutdown on Thursday to press for their demands.

Locals from Sangdan blocked the railway line from Srinagar to Banihal which runs through their area to demand a railway station in the area.

Dozens of residents on Thursday morning blocked the railway line near Sangdan demanding a railway station in their area, Locals told The Kashmiriyat.

Railway officials upon being contacted by The Kashmiriyat said that they cannot provide railway station as the nearest railway station available to the area is less than kilometers away from there.

Meanwhile in Dooru the Locals staged a protest amid complete shutdown in the area to protest against the shifting of a special hospital to Noodur area of Dooru.

Locals speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that Dooru is located in the middle of the area and has easy traffic accessibility.

“Some powerful people, politicians are trying to shift the hospital to help their vote bank,” Abdul Rahid Shah, a local said.
