Encounter Breaks out in Shopian Kashmir

An encounter broke out between militants and Government forces in Heff Khuri area in Zainapora belt of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday evening.
 
An official told The Kashmiriyat that a joint team of Police, Indian Army’s 44 RR and 178 BN of CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police launched a cordon and search operation on tip off about the movement of militants in the area.
 
He said that as the joint teams of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.
 
As per the officials, two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the area.

Locals told The Kashmiriyat that intermittent exchange of gunfire is on between the Militants and Forces.
