Residents of Fathepora village in Ganderbal district on Saturday staged a demonstration against the PDD department for not providing them with the electric poles, wires and also failing to repair the electricity transformer.
Raising slogans against the PDD, they claimed the PDD officials of the area are not to provide them with electric polls and wires.
Under such circumstances, the villagers said that they’re using the barbed wires tied around the trees to illuminate their houses.
“But during rains and snowfall, there are apprehensions of getting electrocuted if one comes in contact with the live wires tied around trees. So, we’re demanding iron electric polls and wires as many people received severe power shocks in the previous year,” a resident told.
Eyewitnesses told The Kashmiriyat that protesters blocked Gadoora-Ganderbal road at fathepora area demanding immediate back of their local electricity transformer 250 KV which went out of order from past one week.
Protesters alleged that their local electricity transformer damaged before one week due to which they are suffering a lot in these days, however, the department hasn’t yet repaired their electricity transformers.
Meanwhile, a senior PDD official, Sanjay Wakhlu upon being contacted by The Kashmiriyat said, “We will look into the matter and the genuine grievances of the locals will be redressed at earliest,” Sanjay said.
