Fear prevails among mainstream Politicians, workers as Militants, Forces follow Tit for Tat

In the past few weeks, a tit for tat policy of forces and militants have left the mainstream politicians and workers worried and are dreading them to step out of their homes.

“We have not regained the political space in South Kashmir that was lost after the killing of Hizb commander Burhan Muzaffar wani on 8 July last year,”a senior worker of People’s democratic party from Shopian’s Wachi constituency told The Kashmiriyat.

He added that during 2016 uprising, the locals were attacking us and now militants have directly started to attack us.
He added that no one is able to support any mainstream party in most parts of South Kashmir yet, as the one who supports us is considered traitor here.

The forces allegedly vandalized the houses of Militants including Azad Dada in Arwani and Umer rashid (slain) in Khudwani and a few Militants in Tral after which Forces barged into the houses of a few Policemen in Tral and a Police officer posted in Tral who lives in Khiram Sirhama area of Islamabad (anantnag).

The Militants also killed four Policemen in Shopian’s Arhama area in South Kashmir post which The Forces ransacked and tried to burn down the houses of Militants in Shopian and Pulwama and arrested the father of the Hizb commander, the brothers of Lateef Tiger in South Kashmir.

The brothers of Many Militants including those of Slain Militants including Saddam Padder, Shakoor dar and Irfan Sheikh were picked up by Forces, three Policemen were killed on the Eid Day.

The new tit for tat policy started on October 16 last year when a PDP worker Muhammad Ramzan sheikh was killed by militants in Chak Homehuna area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district and during scuffle one hizb militant got also killed.

A day after, the angry mob set ablaze sheikh’s house as according to them militant was killed by family of sheikh.
As per sources sheikh’s family is living in other village (maternal home) now feeling threat of locals as well as militants.
On the intervening night forces alleged ransacked houses and damaged goods of about half dozen active militants in shopian district, however police denied ransacking the houses of militants.

In the morning on the same day, 18 oct, a throat slit dead body of Aijaz Ahmed a government teacher by profession, resident of Gatipora shopian was found in wathoo village of shopian district who according to militants was a informer and according to forces was a OGW to militants.

On the same day millitant killed 38 year old Haleem Gojer s/o M Fateh Gujer r/o Gutroo Tral at his residence.

On the intervening night of 18 and 19 October, forces allegedly ransacked house of Hizb militant umar fayaz alias hammad Khan in seer jagir village of Tral.

On 19 Oct The house of PDP Legislator and MLA wachi Adv Aijaz Mir Was targeted with a grenade, however none was injured in the attack.

On next day, house of another PDP legislator and MLA Tral Mushtaq Ahmed shah was attacked with a grenade, however none was injured in that attack as well.

On 21 Oct (Saturday late evening) militants barged into houses of about 3 main stream party workers, a policeman and a territorial army man in Pulwama and shopian district, ransacked their houses and most places fired some shots in air before leaving from the spot.

The workers whose houses were ransacked include Mohammed Ashraf from Dadsara Tral, Fayaz Ahmed From watchi Shopian and Ab Hamid from Renzipora Pulwama.

The houses of ASI Gh Mohamad Bhat from Batgund tral and army man Mushtaq Ahmed @Ishfaq from zasow tahab Pulwama were also ransacked on the same night.

“Due to this tit for tat policy many mainstream leaders and workers have migrated to Srinagar or other parts of jammu kashmir,” said a PDP leader wishing anonymity who is living in Srinagar from the day when PDP worker was killed in Homehuna shopian.

He added that forces are attacking families of militants they in return are attacking them and their well wishers.

On contacting member of legislative council and national conference dist president shopian Showkat Ganaie, he said this all happened after the wrong policies of PDP -BJP coalition government.

He added that the Indian Government at Centre has again disturbed peace in the area.

He said that the former CM, Mehbooba Mufti always maintained that nothing must be done to the families of militants, when she was in opposition but when she was in power, families of militants were thrashed and their houses vandalised, but she acted as a mere spectator.

He added that government must stop attacking families and relatives of militants, otherwise situation will turn out of control in South Kashmir.

MLA Pulwama Mohamad Khalil Bandh and MLA watchi Adv Aijaz Ahmed Mir were not available to comment on the issue despite repeated attempts.
