Five Unidentified Militants Killed In Shopian Encounter

Five Militants have been killed in an ongoing encounter that raged between Government Forces and Militants in the Shopian town of south Kashmir.

Earlier an official told The Kashmiriyat that Jammu Kashmir Police, 44 RR of Indian Army, and 142 Battalion of CRPF launched a joint search operation in the Jan Mohalla of Shopian town following specific inputs on Militant movement in the area.

He said that the firing raged when the Militants opened fire upon the forces, to which the forces retaliated.

During the exchange of gunfire, five unidentified militants have been killed.

Meanwhile, internet services have been suspended in the Shopian district of South Kashmir. “Four Government force personnel have been injured at the site of the encounter, two of them have been shifted to the Army’s 92 base hospital for treatment,” Sources told The Kashmiriyat.

Searches are still going on, Sources said.
