
Renowned Jamaat e Islami scholar and former editor of the organization’s mouthpiece, Azan weekly, passed away at his native in the Deharmuna area of Budgam.
Family sources speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that Syed Atiqullah Bukhari popularly known as Aashiq Kashmiri, who was the former editor of the weekly newspaper Azaan passed away after a prolonged illness.
“He had been keeping unwell for several months and breathed his last on Friday morning at his paternal house in Budgam, where he recently shifted after having relocated to Srinagar’s Bemina area,” they said.
Several people reached his house in the Budgam district to participate in his funeral.
The deceased was also the former chairman of Jammu Kashmir Yateem Khana- an NGO looking after orphan children in the Kashmir valley.
