Four Earthquakes hit Jammu Kashmir in less than one hour

In a startling turn of events, a series of earthquakes jolted the regions of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh within a span of just an hour. Here’s the detailed breakdown:

According to details available to The Kashmiriyat, at 3:48 p.m., a powerful earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale originated in Kargil, Ladakh. The epicenter was located at coordinates 76.74°E, 33.15°N, with a depth of 10 km. This seismic activity was reported by GFZ.

Shortly after, at 4:01 p.m., a substantial earthquake measuring 5.1 struck Kishtwar in Jammu & Kashmir.

The epicenter was pinpointed at coordinates 76.7188°E, 33.1832°N, with a depth of 16 km. This information was sourced via Kashmir Weather.

Simultaneously, another tremor, registering a magnitude of 3.8, shook Jammu & Kashmir at coordinates 33.34°N, 76.78°E, at the same time, 4:01 p.m, reported the National Center for Seismology (NCS).

Adding to the series, a 3.6 magnitude earthquake struck Kishtwar again at 4:18 p.m., with its epicenter recorded at coordinates 33.37°N, 76.57°E.

The successive earthquakes have prompted concerns among residents, urging them to remain vigilant and prepared for any further seismic activities, locals told The Kashmiriyat.
