On Wednesday, four Kashmiri students of Law Department of Amity University in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, were allegedly harassed by locals and later detained by Noida police.

The four students were detained after they approached the police on being roughed up by locals outside hostel.

“Rather than questioning and apprehending the accused responsible for the harassment, the police detained four boys who were subjected to physical aggression,” Jammu Kashmir Students’ Association said on Thursday.

The students’ families had approached the association appealing for their immediate release, the association says.

“JK Students Association have requested the Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, Noida MP Dr Mahesh Sharma, to intervene in order to secure the release of the detained students and ensure their safety,” said JK Student Association.
