Future journalists will have to do ‘Dalali’, If Godi media is not fought against: Ravish Kumar

A day after resigning from NTDV, prominent journalist Ravish Kumar warned that future journalists will be forced to do ‘Dalali’ if people do not fight against Godi media’s slavery.

Ravish Kumar turned to YouTube the day following his resignation to communicate with his audience. He praised his colleagues at NDTV while stating that he will discuss the channel on another occasion. He singled out his female coworkers for their assistance in combating patriarcy.

Ravish stated that he is unsure of his future plans, but that YouTube will remain his primary address for the time being.

He urged his audience to fight it and free themselves from the shackles of Godi media. He stated that if the Godi media is not opposed, all future journalists will be forced to perform Dalali.

Dalali, which literally means “brokerage,” is a disparaging term for persons who cater to interest powers under the guise of their professional responsibilities. Ravish frequently used the term “Godi media” to designate a number of Indian news outlets that he said serve as lapdogs for the government’s narrative.

Ravish Kumar, who hosted the popular Prime Time programme on NDTV Hindi, resigned on Wednesday, following the resignation of NTDV co-founders Radhika and Pranoy Roy.

Ravish is the first journalist to leave NDTV following Adani’s takeover. His decision has been lauded by his supporters, who see him as the unsellable hope of honest journalism.
