Police in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district arrested a gang of stolen vehicle sellers and recovered 5 stolen vehicles.
Divulging information about it, a police spokesperson said in the ongoing investigation in the vehicle theft cases, SSP Ganderbal, Nikhil Borkar constituted a special team headed by DO Police Post Shadipora under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Ganderbal. The said team succeeded in the recovery of 5 stolen vehicles with the arrest of 5 persons.
The spokesperson identified the accused as Riyaz Ahmed of Ganderbal, Reyaz Rather of Nasrullapora Budgam, Showkat Bland of Bijbehara Anantnag, Bilal Danga, a resident of
Dangmohalla Wakoora and Sakhi Rather of Wakoora.
“During questioning, the arrested persons disclosed that the stolen vehicles were plying on the roads of the District in a mala fide manner. The recoveries of stolen vehicles were made from various areas of the District.
The recovered stolen vehicles include Hyundai Creta, Vitara Breeza, Hyundai i20 sports, Maruti Swift VDI and Maruti Alto Car.
Pertinently, Ganderbal district witnessed various vehicle theft incidents from the past several years. There are some people who are still waiting for the recovery of their stolen vehicles. (KNT)
