Ganderbal Residents Protest Demanding Electricity

The Residents of Barabanugh Kangan in Ganderbal district protested against the PDD department and blocked traffic on Barabanugh Wangath Kungan road for an hour.

According to the protestors, the power transformer of Barabanugh area has been deteriorating repeatedly during the last one month due to which the entire area has been plunged into complete darkness.

Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, the protesters said that the employees of the PDD department have taken a workshop to repair the transformer several times in a month, but after installing the transformer back in the area, it deteriorates in a few days, causing cold to the local population.

Sajjad Ahmed, a local resident, said that the power transformer in the area had broken down a week ago due to which the locals were facing severe problems in these days of Chalai Klan.

He said that the locals were demanding the installation of 250 KV power in this remote area so that the population would not face any more difficulties but no concrete action was taken in this regard.

Another local told The Kashmiriyat said that only 100 KV transformers have been provided to the area which has a population of about 100 households, as a result of which they face various difficulties.

For many years they have been repeatedly demanding 250 KV transformer but our request is not being heeded.

AEE Kungan later arrived on the scene and assured the protesters that their legitimate demands would be conveyed to the higher AU.
