Hallan Residents Demand Macadamization of a Patch of Road Left out by Authorities

The residents of Hallan Manzgam area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district today demanded macadamization of a patch of road which was left out by authorities.

They said the road from Manzgam to Hallan, which caters to a huge population, has been left out. “People face problems traveling on the left-out stretch. There is no fun in macadamizing the road if this part is not covered,” a resident said.

In this regard, scores of residents today staged a protest demonstration on Hallan for their demands.

They assembled near masjid sharif Hallan in support of their demands. The protestors alleged that the area has been neglected in terms of proper road connectivity and appealed to authorities to actively look into the matter.

“The roads leading to our village are in deplorable conditions and authorities are in deep slumber. We were thrilled with the blacktopping of our main road but leaving the main portion has disappointed us,” a protestor said.

Another local said, “The people of the village suffer so much but the students and patients suffer most. They (students) have to walk a great distance and yet do not reach their school on time.”

“Many a times students miss exams and that becomes a reason for them dropping out of studies. And then patients are carried on shoulders in extreme cases. Same happens with delivery cases,” he added.
