
A helicopter carrying seven people, including a child and the pilot, crashed near Gaurikund early Sunday morning while en route from Shri Kedarnath Dham to Guptkashi.
According to the Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA), the crash occurred around 5:20 AM in a remote area. Inspector General Rajiv Swaroop confirmed that police, along with teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), were deployed immediately for rescue efforts.
The passengers onboard were from Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat.
Expressing concern, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami posted on X: “Very sad news has been received about a helicopter crash in Rudraprayag district. SDRF, local administration and rescue teams are engaged in relief operations. I pray to Baba Kedar for the safety of all the travellers.”
