High Court refuses to quash joint FIR against The Kashmiriyat and Kashmir Walla in Shopian case

The High Court of Jammu Kashmir Ladakh has refused to quash the joint FIR against The Kashmiriyat and Kashmir Walla which was registered in January 2021.

The Jammu Kashmir High Court has refused to quash the FIR against Kashmir Walla Editor Shah Fahad Peerzada and others for publishing an article claiming that the Indian Army has forced the school authorities of Siraj-ul-Uloom to celebrate republic parade, Advocate Mohsin Dar wrote on his Twitter.

Pertinently, the FIR was registered against The Kashmiriyat and The Kashmir Walla in January 2021, when Siraj ul Uloom, a religious seminary in Kashmir’s Shopian district alleged that they were forced to commemorate the Republic Day celebrations on 26 January. The claim of the Siraj ul Uloom, however, was rejected by the Army.

They spoke to The Kashmir Walla and The Kashmiriyat over the phone and alleged so, a claim they refuted later.

A day later, FIR was registered on the basis of a written complaint made by Company Commander D-Coy 44 1-Rashtriya Rifles Camp Imam Sahib Shopian under Sections 153, 505 IPC at Police Station Imam Sahib, Shopian.
