Horse sent to Home Quarantine in Jammu Kashmir

Amid the growing cases of Covid 19 amd the surrounding panic, the authorities in Jammu Kashmir’s Rajouri district have sent a horse to home quarantine for a period of four weeks.

Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the caretakers of the quarantined horse have been asked to use protective gears while dealing with the animal.

Detailing the incident, officials said, “A team of Jammu Kashmir police patrolling the Mughal road on Tuesday evening intercepted a man returning from Kashmir Valley, the man was carrying a horse, he was immediately rushed to a medical screening center while the authorities were in a fix to decide about the horse.”

The authorities were undecided about the horse, however, the majority of the veterinary experts claimed horse doesn’t pose any threat as it is not a potential carrier of Coronavirus, still the authorities, as a precautionary measure directed that the horse be home quarantine, officials said on Tuesday.

The horse was medically screened for body temperature following which it was handed over to other members of the family.

“All the care takers of this horse have been asked to ensure that they take preventive measures while dealing with the animal,” ADC of Rajouri Sher Singh said. (With Inputs from KNO)
