Illicit timber seized in Ganderbal

Taking the benefit of present situation, the forest smugglers have started to loot the green gold.The timber smugglers have cut the green lush forest cover which is visible all across the state.

Meanwhile Forest department and forest protection in a joint operation on monday late evening has seized a maruti car which was ferrying medium quantity of illicit timber at Preng Head In Ganderbal District.

According to officials, on a tip off, a nakka was laid by the Forest officials and forest protection at Preng head area of Kangan.

The officials said, around 9:30 pm a maruti car wide registration number JK01E-4587 was seized and around 16.20 cfts deodar illicit timber was also recovered from the car.

The driver and his associate when found the nakka, they stopped the vehicle. However, taking advantage of darkness, the smugglers managed to escape from the spot.

He also said we have registered an FIR No.52/2018 against Mohammad Ashraf khan, Jamroz Khan residents of Gutlibagh, Abdul Majid Bhat and John Mohammed Bhat residents of Nillah Najwan.

The investigation of the case is going on, he added.
