In jail for nine years, Kashmiri youth qualifies LLM entrance examinations

A 28 year old Kashmiri youth from Sopore area in north Kashmir who has been jailed for the last nine years has qualified the Masters at Law (LLM) at the university of Kashmir.

Locals from Sopore told The Kashmiriyat that Feroz Ahmed Dar, who is a resident of Alsafa Colony in Sopore has qualified for the  LLM Entrance Examination 2022.

Feroz is booked in a case from March 19, 2013, when a youth Suhail Ahmad Sofi son of Ghulam Nabi Sofi of Doabgah, Sopore was killed by suspected militants.

The Police had said that one of the accused  revealed the involvement of Feroze Ahmad Dar son of Bashir Ahmad Dar resident of Alsafa Colony, Sopore in the murder of Suhail Ahmad Sofi.

Feroz Dar has been languishing in jail for nine years, local said.

“Feroz did not give up on his studies. He initially passed his B.Sc from Central jail Baramulla in 2016 and simultaneously completed his diploma in human rights from IGNOU,” they said.

They added that, in 2020 he completed LLB degree from the department of law in the university of Kashmir.
