India reports 77,266 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours

India has the second-highest active COVID-19 cases in the world with the fresh record of 77,266 cases in a single day.1057 people lost their lives to the disease in the last 24 hours.

According to the data of Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India recorded 77,266 fresh new cases of coronavirus with more than 1,057 deaths in the last 24 hours, the accumulative death toll reached 61,529.

The country’s coronavirus count stands at 33,87,501 including 7,42,023 active cases.

In the last 24 hours 60,177 cases have been recovered.

Maharashtra has recorded the highest number of active cases in India with 7.33 lakh cases and more than 346 more police personnel tested positive and 2 died in the last 24 hours.

Cases are rapidly growing in other states including Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal.

The Union Health Ministry  took to Twitter to inform that “In the past 5 months, more than 3/4 of cases have recovered and less than 1/4 are active now. Effective implementation of the Centre’s strategic and graded TEST-TRACK-TREAT approach has led to higher recoveries and lower fatality”.

The Reuters tally showed that India is the third-most affected country after the United States and Brazil.
