Indian Philosophy must be taught in all universities of Jammu Kashmir: LG Sinha

Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha Tuesday said that  Indian Philosophy must be taught in all universities of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Sinha said this while chairing a meeting of the Higher Education Council at Raj Bhawan.

Sinha on the occasion said that in the past two years, the Jammu Kashmir Higher Education Council has taken many important steps for the comprehensive and holistic transformation. “Nowadays, due to the major positive reforms, the higher educational institutions of Jammu and Kashmir are being praised.”

“I think many of our Vice Chancellors in Jammu Kashmir and outside have met several times to make the higher education department better and to devise the futuristic roadmap for it,” he said.

The LG further said that from curriculum to classrooms, in order to make Jammu and Kashmir Higher Education Department a role model for the colleges in India, “I think the biggest opportunity for any person, stakeholder or a student would be to erase the negativity and fear among the people.”

Sinha also said that the Higher Education Department has successfully implemented NEP-2020 on ground to a large extent. “Now, we must think to devise and create such an environment wherein our hard work and efforts would be recognized nationally and internationally.”

He said, “I think, ‘Design Your Degree’ is one of the best initiatives for higher education that would be potentially an important tool and support for the students.”

Sinha on the occasion ordered the concerned authorities to start teaching Indian Philosophy in the universities of Jammu Kashmir. “Indian Philosophy must be taught in all universities of Jammu Kashmir,” he said.

The LG further said that the higher education department needs to assess the outcome in every possible way.

“We need to assess the outcome in the universities, not only financially but in every possible way, we need to check it” he said—(KNO)
