Freedom House in its report Democracy under Siege has said that India’s status as a free country has changed to “partly free”, according to an annual report on global political rights and liberties.
The report said that since the arrival of Narendra Modi into the Government in Centre, Civil liberties in India have declined.

In its report, the US-based Freedom House, a non-profit organization that conducts research on political freedom and human rights said that the number of countries categorized as “not free” last year was the highest since 2006.
The report further added that India’s “fall from the upper ranks of free nations” could have a more damaging effect on the world’s democratic standards.
From Journalists and activists to Muslims there have been escalated attacks since 2014 which had led to the deterioration of political and civil liberties in the country.
The crackdown against Anti-CAA protesters has added to India’s decline in the ratings.
