In a joint statement by 29 countries along with the United States (US) and Germany, it says that they condemn the internet ban in Belarus by the Government after “fraudulent” presidential election results last month.

Thousands of people have been detained while nearly all the opposition’s key leaders left the country or have been arrested in a widening crackdown since the August 9 vote extended President Alyaksandr Lukashenka’s 26-year rule in what the opposition called it a rigged election.
