The Authorities on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday snapped internet across the South Kashmir districts of Pulwama, Anantnag, Kulgam and Shopian.

An official told The Kashmiriyat that the internet had been snapped in the apprehension of law and order measures.

The Frequent snap-down and the slow internet speed of internet in Kashmir districts have paralyzed life in the valley districts as thousands of students are suffering especially due to snapped internet.

Students and aspirants of different competitive examinations who have applied for different government jobs are facing hardships, Locals told The Kashmiriyat.

Tauqeer Ahmed from Zainapora Shopian, who is preparing for his exams said the because of snapped internet he could not prepare well. “Times have changed. We can’t cover all the syllabus through books. Use of the internet is a must for better results but the government here is playing with our career banning Internet every second day, despite internet being on slow speed since August last year,” Shah told The Kashmiriyat.

Businesses have been worst affected by the partial internet ban. Abdul Majeed, a resident of Pulwama, said that he planned to start an online business but due to the slow internet speed and the frequent internet bans were becoming a hurdle.

Residents said that their life has been paralyzed by constant internet bans and a reduced internet speed. The internet ban shuts down services like PAN, Aadhar, Passport filing, and even ATMs.

Suhail Ahmad Khan, a resident of Pulwama said that government must think over the partial internet ban and come up with some alternative.

Internet bans which became a norm post the killing of Burhan Wani in July 2016, has made 7,000 people working in the IT Sector lose their jobs., however in August last year, the Government of India abrogated the constitutional special status of Jammu Kashmir and snapped communications for a period of more than four months.

High Speed internet has been restored only in the two districts of Kashmir and Jammu regions.
