Internet suspended in parts of Poonch and Rajouri district of Jammu Kashmir

Mobile internet services in Jammu Kashmir’s Poonch and Rajouri districts were suspended following an ambush on two Army vehicles, leaving five soldiers dead, news agency Press Trust of India reported.

Alleged deaths of three individuals after being detained by the Army and the circulation of videos showing suspected torture fueled widespread unrest, prompting the precautionary suspension of services to curb misinformation and maintain law and order.

Official sources, although tight-lipped, revealed the suspension aimed to prevent rumor-spreading. Meanwhile, authorities deployed additional police and paramilitary personnel in sensitive areas while senior officials monitored the situation.

The ambush involved heavily-armed terrorists targeting an army gypsy and a truck, resulting in casualties and reports of mutilated bodies and stolen weaponry.

A massive search operation ensued in the forested regions, yet no fresh contact with the fleeing terrorists was established.

Additionally, three individuals detained for questioning in connection with the attack died under mysterious circumstances, their bodies handed over to their families while investigations continue.

The deceased were identified, yet the cause of their deaths remains unknown.
