Iran pledges revenge for Haniyeh’s death, Vows to punish ‘Terrorist occupiers’

In response to the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian declared that Iran will uphold its territorial integrity and honor.

In a statement posted on the X social media platform, Pezeshkian expressed grief over the martyrdom of Haniyeh, referring to him as a “brave leader of the Palestinian Resistance.” He contrasted his recent act of raising Haniyeh’s victorious hand with the sorrowful task of bearing his coffin.

Pezeshkian affirmed that the bond between Iran and Palestine would be reinforced and that the commitment to resisting oppression would be stronger than ever. He vowed that Iran would defend its sovereignty and make those responsible for the attack regret their actions.

According to a statement from the IRGC, Haniyeh and a bodyguard were killed when their residence was targeted in Tehran.

The IRGC’s statement extended condolences to Palestine, the Islamic community, and Iran, while noting that an investigation into the attack is ongoing.

Hamas Political Bureau member Mousa Abu Marzook pledged retaliation for Haniyeh’s death, labeling the assassination a cowardly act that would not go unanswered.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kan’ani confirmed that the Islamic Republic is investigating the incident through relevant institutions.
