For the past two weeks, almost every night, Israeli warplanes have bombed Hamas facilities in Gaza over Palestinians launching incendiary balloons towards Israel, Israel’s military reported.

The recent bombing occurred early on Wednesday by Israeli warplanes.

There have been no reports of casualties caused by the bombings according to Israel’s military, which stated that it has been targeting underground infrastructure home to Hamas, a Palestinian Sunni-Islamic militant organization that rules Gaza.

Hamas has continuously tried to pressure Israel into easing restrictions on Gaza and allowing more investments, in ways that would let Palestinians release helium balloons consisting of material that over the recent weeks has burned tracts of southern Israeli farmland.

In retaliation, Israel has shut down it’s only commercial crossing with Gaza, prohibited sea access, and stopped fuel imports into the coastal strip.

Israel’s retaliation has led to the shut-down of Gaza’s only power plant, last week.

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, health officials have raised concern over the power plant shut down exasperating the outbreak in Gaza.

In order to ease the recent rising tensions, mediators belonging from the United Nations, Egypt, and Qatar have been working with appropriate delegations.
