Israeli Army has launched aerial strikes targeting two military sites in Daraa countryside and causing material damage in Syria.

“At around 1:35 a.m. on Monday, the Israeli enemy launched an aerial act of aggression from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting two positions of our armed forces in Daraa countryside,” SANA news agency quoted a military source saying.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army said that it carried out air strikes on military infrastructure inside Syria.

“A short time ago, an IDF fighter jet attacked the launchers” from where overnight attacks originated towards Israeli territory, the military said, indicating it hit “military infrastructure in Syrian territory”.

For years, Israel has conducted operations in Syria, targeting various locations, such as the country’s primary airports.

In May, Israeli airstrikes hit Aleppo airport, resulting in three casualties and rendering the airport inoperative, as reported by SANA.

Syria and Iran have maintained a close alliance, and Tehran’s influence has grown significantly since it started supporting President Bashar al-Assad during the war that commenced in 2011

Syria has refuted claims of an extensive Iranian military presence within its borders.

In 2022, the UN Human Rights Office released a report based on a thorough assessment and statistical analysis of available data on civilian casualties.

The report estimates that, between March 1, 2011, and March 31, 2021, a staggering 306,887 civilians lost their lives in Syria as a result of the conflict.

This marks the highest estimate to date of civilian deaths related to the conflict in Syria.
