The Police in Baramulla district have arrested thirteen drug peddlers in ten FIRs registered in January–the first month of the year 2023.
A top official said that the total recovery in the month of January include 3 kilograms of Poppy straw, 664 grams of Charas, 700 grams of Charas powder, 23 Kilograms of Bhung Powder, 1.2 kilograms of Bhung, 25 grams of Brown sugar, and 177 grams of heroin.
He said that 10 total drug-related FIRs were registered in the district this month. Additionally, 13 drug peddlers were arrested.
He further said that a vehicle was also seized by the police.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla, Amod Nagpure (IPS), said that they are ‘at war with drugs’. “Our aim is to make Baramulla Drug free,” he said.
“Please cooperate with Police to curb drug menace. Your identity will be protected,” SSP appealed general public.
As per details available with The Kashmiriyat, four drugs peddlers were arrested with 3kgs poppy straw, 700 grams charas powder & 13 grams of heroin like substance at Sumbal-Singhpora near Odina.
Another drug peddler was arrested along with 130 grams of Charas like substance at Mirgund Pattan.
In another case, a drug peddler was arrested with 65 grams of Charas like substance at Vizer area of Police Post Wagoora and Police Station Kreeri.
Another Drug peddler was arrested alongwith 104 grams of Charas and 1800 grams of Charas Powder like substance at Gundbal area of Police Post Palhallan and Police station Pattan
In Uri, a drug peddler was arrested alongwith 105 grams of contraband Herion like substance at Mohura area of Police station Uri.
Another drug peddler was arrested along with 110 grams of Charas and 1200 grams of Cannabis Hemp contraband like substance near STC Sheeri crossing. The FIR was registered in Police Station Sheeri.
In another case, a drug peddler was arrested alongwith 25 grams of contraband Brown Sugar like substance near Poshwan Colony Gantamulla area of Police Station Sheeri.
A drug peddler was arrested alongwith 115 grams of charas contraband like substance at Lagama-Garkote crossing, area of Police Station Uri.
