Jan-Jati Gaurav Divas celebrated at Kulgam

In honour of Tribal Freedom fighters the district Administration Kulgam, today celebrated Janjati Gaurav Divas at Mini-Secretariat, here.

This function was organised today on November 15 which is the birth anniversary of ‘Birsa Munda’ who inspired people of country to fight for freedom, preserve culture & environment.

During the function, the services and sacrifices rendered by tribal freedom fighters were recalled.

While addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr.Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din-Bhat said that there is a 30 percent tribal population in the district and concerted and coordinated efforts are in place for proper upliftment of tribal community by the Government.

He added that tribal pride week celebration shall continue in the district and during this week multifarious cultural and awareness programmes will be organized to promote and preserve tribal culture.

He also urged the participants’ especially tribal unemployed youth to avail benefits of various tribal welfare and employment generation schemes.

He also instructed the officers to make best use of this tribal pride week celebrations in sensitizing people of tribal community about the various tribal welfare and other beneficiary-oriented schemes so that they can avail benefits of these schemes.

During his speech, the DC informed that the admission process in Eklavya Residential School shall commence soon.

He also assured the people that the district administration has chalked out a plan to provide hassle-free services to people during this winter season.

DDC members, ADDC, members from tribal community, District and sectoral officers attended the function.

On the occasion colorful cultural programmes were also presented.
