JK Admin says No Ban on Eid Sacrifice in Jammu Kashmir

The administration in Jammu Kashmir on Friday said that the letter seeking that went viral earlier on Friday has been misconstrued.

The Director of Planning of Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Departments, was quoted by The Kashmir Walla as saying that there was no ban on slaughter of animals in the region.

“It is not an order, it is a letter. The letter was sent to enforcement agencies to enforce the laws of Animal Welfare Board and it is at the time there is mass slaughter of animals to prevent cruelty on animals. This is not a ban on slaughter and sacrifice,” Sharma said.

Pertinently, the letter created uproar in the Kashmir valley and many religious scholars during their Friday sermons denounced the ban and said it was  direct attack on the religion.
