Jammu Kashmir Police snapped a fake Lashkar -E- Toiba share at Warpora, main town Sopore. An imaam along with 8 other persons handcuffed, while stamps and other misleading posters were recovered from the possessions of the arrested.
A complaint received from an anonymous person asserting that he has received a letter on the letter pad of Lashker -E- Toiba where, he has been directed to pay 50,000 rupees for banned outfit, as the organization is in appalling need of endowment for carrying out various activities.
Upon receipt of the complaint, FIR No.11/2021 U/S 13 ULPA 452,393, 120-B, 511 IPC was registered at Police Station in Sopore and inquiry was taken up. During the course of inspection, JK Police while talking to The Kashmiriyat said that the utilization of human resources has been involved and technical means to trace the goons, it came to fore that three persons identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Reshi, Mumtaz Ahmad War and Abdul Qyoom Ganie, All residents of Warpora conquered a plan to collect cash from the complainant.
JK Police Sopore arrested the accused and upon the cross examination, they revealed that how they were blackmailing the innocent general public and prominent businessmen of the said area. Accused confessed that they used to identify the target first and then subsequently devise a plan to blackmail and loot the money by sending a letter on the letter pad of LeT through kids.
The search operation was not only limited to Warpora but also in main town Sopore. Sopore police has busted a same type of gang in the Year 2019 which involved 4 persons and all the four accused who were involved in the commission were booked under PSA for using fake AK – 47 for extortion. Meanwhile, investigation of the case is on and some more arrests are expected in the case. JK Police Sopore also requested the general public to come forward and report any such sort of crime to police immediately so that innocent public can be saved from them.
