Kamran Yusuf, Two Other Journalists Thrashed by Forces Near Encounter Site in Kashmir

Government Forces have thrashed Photojournalist Kamran Yusuf and two more journalists at the site of the encounter in Marwal in Pulwama, South Kashmir.

Speaking to The Kashmiriyat over phone Kamran Yusuf said that he was rounded by Forces near the site of the encounter and thrashed mercilessly.

“I was just performing my professional duties, I did not do anything provocative, I was beaten for no reason,” Kamran said.

Kamran told The Kashmiriyat that the forces tried to snatch away his camera and stopped him from performing his professional duties.

Kamran, who was detained in 2017 by the National Investigating Agency and released after seven months, has not been thrashed for the first time while performing his duties.

Two more journalists Faisal Bashir and Reshi Irshad have also been beaten at the site of the encounter in Pulwama.

Speaking to The Kashmiriyat over the phone, Reshi Irshad said that he too along with Faisal Bashir was rounded up and beaten by Forces.

Various photojournalists in Kashmir have alleged in the past that they were thrashed while performing their professional duties.
