Kashmir- At least 480 People Killed in 2018, Highest in a Decade

At least 480 people have been killed in violence in Jammu Kashmir, so far in 2018 and the mayhem continues.

The officials said that 2018 has been bloodiest year for the State since 2008 when over five hundred people had died in violence, The toll stood at 384 in 2017 whereas 247 people had died in 2016.

in 2018, 253 militants, 97 Government Force personnel and 84 civilians have been killed so far, as per official figures, however data available to The Kashmiriyat reveals that at least 140 people have been killed in Violence related incidents.

Among the top commanders killed this year were Lashkar-e-Tayyaba (LeT)’s Naveed Jutt alias Abu Hanzalla, Jaish-e-Muhammad’s sniper specialist Usmaan Haider and Hizb-ul-Mujahideen’s Altaf Ahmad Dar.

Seven civilians were killed during an anti Militancy operation in October in Laroo area of Kulgam, seven more on Saturday during an Anti Militancy operation in Sirnoo area of Pulwama, another three were shot in Kulgam’s Hawoora area on July 07, while four were shot dead on March 06 in Shopian’s Pehnoo area.

Among the recruits were, 14-year-old boy Mudassir Rashid who had joined the militants’ ranks only about a week ago. With him also died his friend and neighbour Saqib Bilal Sheikh, 17, who had done a brief role in Bollywood movie Haider.
