Most parts of Jammu Kashmir experienced subzero temperatures on Friday night, intensifying the ongoing cold wave across the region.
In the Kashmir Valley, Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of -0.5°C, while Qazigund and Pahalgam registered -1.0°C and -2.8°C, respectively.
Higher reaches, including Gulmarg (-3.4°C), Sonamarg (-2.2°C), and Shopian (-3.5°C), remained the coldest. The remote and strategic Zojila Pass recorded an extreme low of -18.0°C.
Meanwhile, Anantnag and Pulwama shared similar minimum temperatures of -2.1°C, while Kupwara and Kokernag remained slightly warmer at 0.1°C and 0.4°C.
Other districts, including Budgam (-1.3°C) and Bandipora (-0.7°C), also reported subzero temperatures, reflecting the widespread chill.
In Jammu division, temperatures remained milder compared to Kashmir, with Jammu city recording 8.7°C.
Banihal saw a low of 0.2°C, while Bhaderwah and Batote registered 0.4°C and 3.2°C, respectively. Ramban was the warmest location at 11.4°C, followed by Katra at 8.0°C.
Ladakh continued to endure frigid weather, with Leh recording -7.2°C and Kargil reporting -5.6°C.
The Meteorological Department has forecast dry weather for the next few days, but the cold wave is expected to persist.
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions to stay warm.
