The Kashmir Valley woke up to a foggy morning on Sunday, leading to poor visibility and affected road traffic in most parts of the Kashmir.
Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu Kashmir and many parts of the Valley witnessed dense fog in the morning. It led to traffic jam as motorists drove cautiously due to poor visibility.
The Meteorological Department here said the fog was a result of sudden dip in the temperatures and condensation of water droplets in the atmosphere.
“This is a normal phenomenon during time of the season,” said a weather office official.
Meanwhile Srinagar experienced the coldest night of this season as the mercury plummeted to minus3.7 degree Celsius, which is said to be the coldest night since 2009 in November.
Gulmarg remained the coldest place in Kashmir Valley and mercury tumbled to minus 7. 4 °C at the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmir.
Pahalgam, the famous tourist destination of the Valley, recorded minus 5.6°C.
