Kashmiri Pandit’s Celebrated the Auspicious Day of Janamashtami

The festival of Janamashtami, commemorating the birth anniversary of Krishna, was celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety in Jammu and Kashmir.

A Government order was issued that ordered the devotees to maintain social distancing, wearing of masks and other SOP’s.

Kashmiri Pandit’s celebrated the holy festival in Colonies to pay their obeisance to Krishna on the occasion of Janamashtami.

Devotees, Rohit Raina and Sanjay Raina said, “Janamashtami is a very significant festival in the Hindu religion and every year, I, along with my family, make sure to pay obeisance at the temple but due to pandemic deadly disease we follow orders issued by government to wear masks, gloves and celebrate Janamashtami at homes as a preventive measure”.

Children dressed in colorful attires as Krishna and Radha while some people celebrated the day by flying kites on their rooftops.

On Tuesday, special shoba yatras were held to mark the occasion.

“We held a shoba yatra, a good number of devotees participated and we have decorated the temples located inside colonies and devotees come to pay their respects here”, they said.

This occasion was celebrated by chanting bhajans, shlokas and the devotees prayed that the pandemic ends soon.
